ULM CATHEDRAL
Wuertenberg, Germany
This cathedral is one of the most noted monuments
of architecture of the middle ages. It required 513
years to build; begun in 1377 and completed
in 1890. The spire is 525 feet high and the cathe-
dral will accommodate 30,000 people.
The replica of Ulm Cathedral on exhibit in the Hall
of Religion of A Century of Progress, Chicago, is
hand carved from maple and holly wood. It con-
tains 4300 pieces fitted together. It is 9 feet
high, 8 feet long, 40 inches wide, equipped with
lights, art glass windows, and chimes. Seven years
of painstaking labor were devoted by Gust Mrosek
of Chicago, Illinois, the builder of this model.
