The Sycamore Iun .. , since 1849
Carrying on the tradition of hospitality for
which this historic spot has been known since the
Golden Days of '49.-
Away back in 1849, in the days of the Gold Rush,
there stood on the exact spot now occupied by the
Sycamores a little trailside inn, operated by "Uncle
Billy" Rubottom that was known far and wide for
its friendly hospitality. The spot is marked by a
monument and plaque erected by the Native
Daughters of the Golden West. Today the Syca-
more Inn – remodeled and redecorated – standing
in the cool shade of a beautiful Sycamore Grove, is
dedicated to the same ideal of friendly hospitality
that characterized its historic, fore-runner over one
hundred years ago.
Good food, prepared and served in an atmosphere
that enhances enjoyment of it; a cocktail lounge
pleasantly appointed and widely known for the
excellence of its extensive wine list; private dining
areas – these are just a few of the features that
are enabling us, at The Sycamores, to maintain the
standards of hospitality for which this historic spot
was famous one hundred years ago.
We are happy to welcome you to the friendly
Sycamore Inn.
