Rail excursions in western British Columbia are popular throughout the fair weather
season with trips from North Vancouver to Squamish. These excursions are run with
steam locomotives, usually Royal Hudson 2860. Today, May 21, 1988, the train is
powered by doubleheader 6060 and 3716 and is seen traveling southbound along Howe
Sound at Britannia, B.C. The lead locomotive, former Canadian National 6060, now
owned by the province of Alberta, is a Mountain type 4-8-2 built as a group of twenty
class U-1-f locomotives from October through December 1944. Following the Mountain
is former Canadian Pacific Consolidation 3716 owned by the provincial tourist agency.
