This line drawing shows the reasors for the remarkable phenomenon of the Reversing Falls where the
Saint John river enters the Bay of Fundy.. The Bay has a tidal rise and fall of 32 feet and at low tide is below
the level of the River waters, with the result that the River waters rush over the natural dam into the
bay causing the falls in this direction.
when navigation takes place, but as the Bay waters rise they become higher then the River waters with
the result that the Bay waters rush over the dam into the River waters thus creating the Reversing Falls
As the waters of the Bay rise a point of equilibrium is reached
