In honor of Prof. Evan Stephens, perhaps
the most venerated and distinguished of Utah's
splendid array of poet-musicians; and because
he graciously consented to dedicate this song
to the people of Utah as evidence of his
affection and patriotism toward the state of
his early adoption.
The State Legislature, on February 21, 1917,
by resolution adopted the song as the official
state song of Utah.
