Springs Hotel, that shortly after the close of
the Civil War was purchased by the U. S. Gov-
ernment for a military asylum. The cost of the
original grant of land (1092 acres) and buildings
was 50,000 dollars. The total valuation of
buildings and land at the present date is over
875,000 dollars, and the home covers 1735 acres.
