Here Captain Robert Rogers while engaged in a Battle on Snowshoes fooled the Indians by tossing his pack over the edge so as to appear that he had fallen. Then backtracking around to the ice below, he was seen unharmed by the Indians. Thinking him pro- tected by the Great Spirit they gave up the chase. Color Photos by Richard K.
