VINCENTI, CHIEF OF ALL THE NAVAJOS
The Navajos, although called the Bedouins of
the Desert, for they are the true nomads, always
wandering here and there as suits their fancy,
yet are one of the few American Indian families
growing in number. There were approximately
7,000 of them forty years ago, and in 1906 the 30PM
Indian Office roughly estimated that there were
about 28,500. The Navajo, in appearance, is tall,
rather slender and extremely agile.
