The final assembly line in the Studebaker factories, South Bend, Indiana-the home of the One-Profit Studebaker
cars. The engine, body, steering gear, axles, clutch, springs, brakes, gear set and other parts-designed and
produced in Studebaker plants-meet at the final assembly to form the finished car. In many plants these parts
have been purchased from various manufacturers; the name on the car merely identifies the organization that
put them together. This results in a lack of harmony in design and multiplication of profits.
