OLD SHAW HOMESTEAD, SOUTHERN PINES, N. C. This old before-the-war mansion, standing among some of the finest trees in the Sand Hills, is interesting as being the first home built in Southern Pines- about 1835. Sherman's Raiders carried off its stock and slaves, and it suffered more or less from both armies. is visited by many tourists, who always find a cordial welcome.
