THE HIGHLY INTERESTING WALLACE MUSEUM,
at left, contains some of the many items of historic
interest in this famous mining town. Wallace was
founded in the middle 1880's, and it was "gold in
them thar hills" that brought the first rush. This city
of approx. 3,000 pop. has since developed as the
Silver Capital of the world. It became the county seat
of Shoshone County in 1899, and more than 90%
of Idaho's mineral wealth comes from this county.
Idaho leads the nation in silver production.
