COEUR d'ALENE, IDAHO
is the county seat of Kootenai County and is located
on the north end of Lake Coeur d'Alene. This unique
vacation city's name is of French origin and was given
to a tribe of friendly Indians found here by the early
French traders. The Indians were so-named because of
sharp trading practices, so they had sharp pointed
hearts or "Hearts of the Awl."
