The DANIEL J. EVANS LIBRARY, built in 1971, is the academic
hub of The Evergreen State College, a 1000 acre campus seven
miles from downtown Olympia, Washington. In addition to class-
rooms, offices, and conference rooms, the Evans Library contains
over 210,000 books, 30,000 reference volumes, recording stu-
dios, a video production system, films, maps, editing benches,
drafting tables, over 1,500 magazine subscriptions and a fine rare
books collection. The Library circulates much more of its collec-
tions proportionately than most colleges, over 190,000 volumes
annually.
