The Macnab
Additional Details:
This clan came into prominence in the 12th century. Their territory was in the Breadalbane district of Argvllshire, but they ultimately suffered the loss of their lands for not submitting to the Crown authority. They took part, to the number of 300, against Cromwell's troops at the Battle of Worcester, when their chief was killed. General Monk afterwards took specially severe measures against them. The descendants of the ancient chiefs are now in Canada. Their badge was "Common Heath." |
