The Computer History Museum (CHM) in Mountain View, Calif., is a non-profit organization with a
four decade history. The Museum is dedicated to the preservation and celebration of computer
history, and is home to the largest international collection of computing artifacts in the world,
encompassing computer hardware, software, documentation, ephemera, photographs and moving
images.

CHM brings computer history to life through an acclaimed speaker series, dynamic website, onsite
tours, as well as physical and online exhibits. The Museum's temporary exhibit, Charles Babbage's
Difference Engine No. 2 provides a chance for visitors to experience one of history's most unique and
historically significant mechanical computing engines. The Babbage Engine weighs 5 tons and
consists of 8,000 moving parts.

Other current exhibits include “The Silicon Engine,” “Mastering
the Game: A History of Computer Chess,” “Innovations in the
Valley,” and “Visible Storage,” which features over 600 key
objects from CHM's collection, reflecting the astonishing
development in technology from the abacus to vacuum tubes to
exotic semiconductors.
