Site of the Olympic Winter Games 1980
Lake Placid was responsible for popularizing winter
sports in the 1900's. Following the 1932 Games
hosted by Lake Placid, many ice show extravaganzas
were held in the Olympic Arena. This small mountain
village has produced 49 Olympic Athletes. Construc-
tion for the 1980 Games will provide the finest winter
sport facilities in the world for all Olympic Disciplines.
