LA POSTA IN OLD MESILLA, NEW MEXICO
12 Mile South of 1-10
Two miles southwest of Las Cruces, N. M. is La
Posta, recognized by Life Magazine as one of the
40 great Inns in America. It is the only Station on
the Old Butterfield Trail that is still in use to
serve the traveler. Its thick adobe walls have with-
stood the attacks of the elements, man, and time
and have sheltered such personalities as Kit Carson,
Pancho Villa and Billy the Kid. The roaring frontier
town, Mesilla, now sleeps, but La Posta still offers
its traditional hospitality and fine foods to all who
wander here.
