BIG FALL. YOSEMITE VALLEY. CALIFORNIA
Yosemite Valley is famous for its rocks, peaks,
lakes, numerous waterfalls and cascades which are
discharged from prodigious heights over the mountain
walls. Among this, the first place is held by the big
fall, which in three leaps drop nearly one half mile.
The creek at the point of its upper discharge is 35
feet in width. The fall appears like a white ribbon
in the distance, but when rushing through its bed,
there is nothing bnt seething, boiling and swirling
mass of mist, foam and water.
