U.S.S. FORRESTAL (CV-59)
First Aircraft Carrier built to handle jet aircraft. Com-
missioned in October 1955 with a length of 1,039 feet
and a draft of 37 feet, the Forrestal carries 5,000 men
and upwards of 100 aircraft.
