Two Room Elementary School , 909 Mormon Street
Additional Details:
Also known as “Granite School”
It was originally a single room school but a second room was added at the turn of the century because of increased student enrollment. (A new larger school was constructed in 1915 adjacent to this structure so it was demolished that same year. The replacement Granite School was utilized as an elementary school and eventually became a part of the Folsom Cordova Unified School District. The replacement Granite School was closed in 1966 due to it not being structurally sound in the event of an earthquake and Blanche Sprentz School open a few miles away to accept the displaced students. Granite School then became “Granite Center” which was a non-student school district facility until 2012. The playground/field area was sold to the City of Folsom in 1991 and it became a public park. In 2021 the Folsom Cordova Unified School District sold the old Granite School to the Folsom Chamber of Commerce that utilizes that 1915 structure today. |
