Mt. Washburn Lookout is on the 10,243-foot
summit of the highest point in Yellowstone
National Park, reached by road. The stone Look-
out, built in 1921, was replaced by the present
structure, in 1940. The road up the north slope
to the summit was reopened in 1959, after being
closed for several years.
