COOK STRAIT RAIL-ROAD FERRY G.M.V. ARAMOANA
(4,160 tons gross). Owned by New Zealand Railways,
"Aramoana" provides a return service six days a week
between Wellington and Picton, carrying passengers,
motor vehicles, and railway wagons. Special berths at
each terminal facilitate rapid "roll-on, roll-off " loading
and unloading of vehicles at almost any state of the tide.
