FRANKLIN INSTITUTE founded in 1824, houses
models of epoch making inventions and main-
tains a library of scientific literature containing
about 90,000 volumes and 30,000 pamphlets. The
institution has held 29 exhibitions of Americom
manufactures, most notable being that of 1884
which was the first exhibition in America de
voted exclusively to the electrical arts.
