ART PUBLISHERS TO THEIR MAJESTIES THE KING & QUEEN.
To the superb strategy of Marshal Foch who was
appointed to the sole Command of the Allied Armies
in France and Flanders in April 1918, are due the
unbounded thanks of the whole civilized world on
the consummation of the triumphant Victory by the
gallant Troops under his supreme direction.
Marshal Ferdinand Foch was born at Tarbes,
October 2nd, 1851. Adopting the Army as his career,
he early showed great strategic abilities and for
several years was Commander of L'Ecole de Guerre.
** Learn to think” were the words he addressed to
his pupils in that school, and it is Marshal Foch's
wonderful powers of mind that swept the Allies to
Victory.
His name will be handed down in History as the
greatest Leader in the Great War for Freedoom.
