LORD FREDERICK LEIGHTON, born December
3rd 1830 at Scarborough (Yorkshire), died January
25 th 1896 at London, Painter and sculptor. Was
pupil of the academies of Berlin and Florence and
then at Francfort as a pupil of Becker and especially
Steinle. 1878 he became president of the Royal Academy,
1886 he was elevated Baronet and 1896 Lord.
