Smugglers at Home. Smuggling goods is the
livelihood of many inhabitants on the Spanish-France
frontiers. In order to evade the vigilance of the Cus-
toms officials the smugglers usually perform the dan-
gerous passage of the passes by night, spending the
o day securely hidden in some cave in the hills, which
cave is also used as a store house for the goods,
