The New Forest. A Wet October
Additional Details:
The New Forest Series 7559
The yearly fern cutting and fern carting in the New Forest, which takes place every October, is badly hindered by the rainy days that sometimes interrupt St. Luke's Summer. The heaps of cut dead fern turn to a picturesque rasset, and one day's thorough wetting may mean days of drying before it will be fit for bedding cattle. |
