Dalhart lies in a rich wheat and cattle district in the
northwesterly corner of the Texas Panhandle. A short
distance southeast of Dalhart is Rita Blanca Dam, a
popular recreational area which includes a sandy
beach, boat docks and other facilities. The XIT
Cowhand Reunion is annually held in this town in
August with a rodeo and historical pageant.
