Masonic Stamp Club of New York
As part of the ceremonies when President Eisenhower laid the cornerstone
for the Capitol's east front, July 4, 1959, the Masonic Stamp Club issued a two-
color cover showing George Washington laying the original cornerstone of the
Capitol in 1793. The 48-star flag stamp was used on cover and post marked at
noon, July 4th, during the Masonic ceremonies. The Grand Master of Masons
of the District of Columbia presided, together with many prominent people in
Government and private life attended the ceremonies.
The Masonic Stamp Club thought you would be interested in this cover.
Three thousand were printed and any number may be purchased by writing to
the Cover Chairman-
