Luther Burbank, naturalist and originator of
new fruits and flowers, born in 1849 at Lan-
caster, Mass., where he spent his boyhood on
a farm, moved to Santa Rosa, Cal., in 1875
where he at present conducts the Burbank
Exp't farms. Among the many wonderful of
his original creations are to be found the
stoneless prune, Shasta daisy and various
new apples, peaches, nuts, berries, valuable
trees, flowers, grasses, grains and vegetables.
His most recent is the Spineless Cactus.
