THE SEEING PORTLAND CAR" Leaving
the top of "COUNCIL CREST"
The patrons of this car are taken daily to
the top of this Mountain in Portland's western
suburb and are given ten minutes to view the
magnificent panorama, which spreads in every
direction from that point. This is the highest
point in the range, known as Portland Heights
and according to an Indian legend was the
point where the tribes met and held their
Councils of Peace and War.
The view from Council Crest is pronounced
by all Tourists one of the most picturesque in
the world. It is 1200 feet above the sea level
and 1150 feet above Portland's Harbor. A wide
variety of scenery and points of interest are
seen from here, comprising the cities of Port-
land, Oregon City, and Vancouver, Wash., the
Columbia and Willamett Rivers, the Calapooia
Coast range and Cascade Mountains with five
snow capped peaks and many fertile valleys.
I was in Portland ......
and took this trip.
