Looking down into a cranberry bog shows a
closely grown mat of green vines and ruby red
berries ready for fall harvest. This fruit grows
in peat soil topped with a layer of sand. After
planting, the first crop is ready in three or four
years. If cared for, a bog will then produce
indefinitely.
