The Cherokee Indian Reservation is located on the edge of
the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and is the home
of over 3,000_members of the Eastern Band of the Cher-
okee Indians. These Indians are descended from those that
ran away into the heart of the rugged Great Smokies to
avoid being removed to Oklahoma.
