PARKE COUNTY, INDIANA
OLD ST. JOSEPH'S CHURCH. The history of the
Catholic Church in Parke County began with the
Indian occupation. With the coming of white
settlers Mass was said in private homes. The first
church in Rockville was on West York St. about
1870. In 1886 this Church was built at Ohio and
Virginia Sts. To make way for a new Church, it
was donated to Billie Creek Village in 1972, with
financial assistance of Mr. & Mrs. Anton Hulman.
