"The Hermitage" - Home of Andrew "Jackson.
Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United
States, and the founder of the "Democratic Party," was
born March 15th, 1767, in the Waxhaw Settlement, Union
Co., on the border between North and South Carolina. He
married Mrs Rachel Donelson Robards in 1791. After
nearly 40 years of happy wedlock, Mrs. Jackson died at
"The Hermitage " on Dec. 22d, 1828. Jackson continued
to live there until his death on June 8th, 1845.
