at the junction of U. S. Highways 2 and 91, and
is often referred to as the "Gateway to Alaska"
and "Transportation Center of Northern Montana''.
Shelby is nationally known as the site of the
spectacular heavyweight title fight between
Dempsey and Gibbons in 1923.
