First Baptist Church was the first church of
any denomination to be organized in the city of
Gulfport, and has had a large part in the religious
life of the community. It is now one of the
largest churches in the coast area. The present
building is the third to be erected by the con-
gregation. The auditorium was erected in 1915
and completely modernized in 1949. The educa-
tional building was erected in 1949.
