One of the West's most colorful and roman-
tic Camps. Historic center of one
of one of the
greatest mining districts in the world. Over
three quarters of a billion in gold and silver
taken from this famous Comstock Lode since
discovered in 1859, and played an important
role in preserving the credit of the Nation
during the Civil War. Once had a population
of close to 40,000, today about 2,000. The
district is still active.
