| In California's Mother Lode, founded by Kit Carson, and celebrated its Centennial Plus on July 19 to 21, 1968. Burned down twice - was rebuilt. Became townsite in 1878. In 1949 Vince Bueno purchased the Sierra Mercantile Building. Mining - Logging were principal industries - now retirement area. Well known for good fishing and hunting. |
