DORY FISHERMAN'S MARKET. Located near the long
recreation pier, at Newport Beach, California, this public
fish market is one of the most unusual and unconven-
tional business enterprises in the state. It is operated by
a group of energetic dory fishermen, who are granted
free use of the beach by city authorities. It is felt that
the market contributes a truly colorful phase to beach
activities. While the market fishermen pay no city busi-
ness license, they are required to carry a California State
