Robin Redbreast
(Erythacus rubecola.)
The Robin is cherished for its bright, confiding nature,
its trilling song and warm coloring. It lives in gardens,
shrubberies, and woods, feeding on insects when they are
plentiful, and on berries in the winter. The nest is built
near the ground, and made of moss, dry leaves, and grass,
warmly lined with hair, wool, and feathers. Here twice
during the summer, five to seven white eggs, softly clonded
and spotted with pale ruddy-brown, are hatched.
