CHOIR LOFT of SAN MIGUEL CHURCH
Santa Fe, New Mexico
This view from the sanctuary of the Oldest Church shows
the balcony which is held up by beautiful carved beams
dating back to 1710. The large beam bears the inscription:
"El Senor Marquez de la Penuela. Hizo esta fabrica es
Alferes Real Don Agustin Flores Vergara su criado Ano de
1710." The meaning is as follows: "The Marquis de la
Penuela. This structure is the work of the Royal Ensign
Augustin Flores Vergara his servant in 1710."
