Allen Clan, in bid to free one of their clan, made national headlines after the Courtroom Massacre, March 14, 1912, killing judge, prosecutor, sheriff, several jurors and witnesses. Weeks later, they were captured one by one. Hillsville was incorporated in 1900, rechartered 1940. |
