CORNWALLIS CAVE. One of the most interesting
"show places of Yorktown is this roomy cave in the side of
a hill.
It was constructed during the closing days of the Re-
volutionary War to shelter the British commander from the
fierce bombardment kept up almost constantly by the Con-
tinental troops and their Freuch allies.
