OLD CHURCH
LOS RANCHOS DE TAOS
is one of the finest specimens still standing
of the early New Mexican architecture. It is
massively constructed of adobe with two
towers in front, the upper portions built of
wood, and each surmounted by a cross. The
main body measures 108 feet inside. Vigas
are sustained by carved supports imbedded
is in the walls, and many vigas are also carved.
According to the best knowledge the Church
was built in 1772, and many objects of great
interest remain unchanged.
