The Nile Bridge. This fine iron bridge (1,250 feet long)
connects the island of Gezireh (or Bulak) with the east
bank of the Nile, and is opened for a certain period daily
to allow sailing boats to pass up and down the river.
Early in the morning the bridge is crowded with camels,
donkeys an i their owners, bringing market garden produce
into the town.
