CARTE POSTALE.
In the Arab Quarters, Cairo. This is a very pic-
turesque part of old Cairo. Here are small chambers, all
facing a rectangular courtyard, and above them more
rooms, where sleep at night those merchants who sell in
the lower rooms by day. Money-changers live here,
harness-sellers, jewellers, brass and copper-workers, and
the business of trade goes on in the leisurely Oriental
manner, with periods of coffee-drinking and smoking
between the bargaining.
