The station hotel at Williams, is built with wide
porticos like an old Spanish Mission. The con-
struction is reinforced concrete. It is named after
Fray Marcos de Niza, who in 1539 led an exped-
ition through Arizona in search of mythical gold.
Williams is the gateway to the Grand Canyon,
which is 65 miles to the north.
