Oct. 2, 1780 brouth to a stand by John Paulding, Van Wart and David Williams. Andre had been commissioned to buy with gold what steel could not conquer; drive a bargain with one ready for a price to become a traitor. His remains were afterwards transferred and buried in Westminister Abbey. General Arnold's treason revealed Sept. 26. Washington writes, Arnold's conduct is so villanously perfidious, that there are no terms that can describe the baseness of his heart.
