SAN LUIS REY IS THE LAST MISSION FOUNDED IN THE EIGHTEENTH CENTURY. THE DEDUCTION CEREMONIES TOOK PLACE IN JUNE 1798. IT IS KNOWN AS THE GROUNDEST AND RICHEST OF MISSIONS AND IS LOCATED IN A MOST PICTURESQUE SECTION NEAR OCEANSIDE, SOME 50 MILES DISTANT FROM SAN DIAGO.
